Dr. Cynthia Kuhn
Founder

Dr. Cynthia Kuhn received a B.A. from Stanford University and a Ph.D. from Duke University. She is Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology at Duke University, where she is a researcher and educator. She is an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) fellow and received the Golden Goose award for work done with Dr. Saul Schanberg on mother and infant interactions.


Dr. Kuhn has studied how addictive drugs affect the developing brain from fetal development to adolescence. She is committed to translating neuroscience for scientists and nonscientists. She co-authored the book “Buzzed, The Straight Truth about the Most Used Drugs from Alcohol to Ecstasy” with Wilkie Wilson, Ph.D., and Scott Swartzwelder, Ph.D., and contributed to the development of the honors high school curriculum presented here. She conducts drug education for many groups including students, parents, teachers, law enforcement, and medical personnel.
