Alcohol & The Adolescent Brain: Immediate Impairment, Long-Term Consequences
Presented to the Office of the Governor
January 2016
Dr. Kuhn and Dr. Wilson, founders of the Better Brain Project, authored Alcohol & The Adolescent Brain: Immediate Impairment, Long-Term Consequences, a comprehensive statewide report on the effects of alcohol on adolescent brain development. This report was created in collaboration with experts from the Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, the Duke University Social Sciences Research Institute, Duke University Medical Center, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
This partnership was formed as part of the Governor's Substance Abuse and Underage Drinking Prevention and Treatment Task Force. Dr. Kuhn and Dr. Wilson’s collaborative work on the report has been instrumental in advancing alcohol research for the Talk It Out NC Campaign, which continues to have a lasting impact.
